[Filming Location] Yumi Cells

It’s been a while since I last did a filming location post so I kind of hope that this drama will live up to the expectations! To be honest, the first episode felt a little weird and distracting with the frequent switching of scenes from cartoon to real life. The cartoon parts remind me of the movie ‘inside out’ where various emotions speak out but in this case, it refers to ‘cells’ within the protagonist’s brain? Hope that there would be more beautiful places featured in the upcoming episodes so I can continue updating this post!

Episode 1

Cherry Blossom Village, Sejong Grancia @ Bucheon City

Korean Name: 벚꽃마을 세종그랑시아
Address: 591-1 Sang-dong, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

FYI – This place seems like a residential district so I don’t believe it is easily accessible.

Episode 2

Ilsan Lake Park

Korean Name: 일산호수공원
Address: 595 Hosu-ro, Janghang-dong, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

There seems to be an annual Goyang flower festival which happens from April to May. However, my guess is that the ‘rose’ season only happens in mid to end May where it is warmer. The park may be free but when there are exhibitions and festivals, you may need a ticket. Well, the good thing is that Goyang is not that far from Seoul and can be accessed via subway (orange line) at the Jeongbalsan station. People who have previously gone to catch Music Core performances in the past should be familiar. It takes about 1 to 2 hours from Seoul.

Address: 1652-245 Beopheung-ri, Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

This restaurant is located inside the Hyeri art village which is in Paju City. Paju is a great place to have a day trip from Seoul but if you ask me, travel is kind of a hassle as you have to take the bus.

Ilsan Lake Park Garosugil

Address: South Korea, Gyeonggi-do, Goyang-si, Ilsanseo-gu, Juyeop-dong, 주엽로 80

According to google, it seems like a relatively new mall (haven’t been to korean since 2019 so everything after that is ‘new’ to me).
It is located one subway stop away from the lake park, technically if you’re visiting, I’m sure you can walk between two locations.

Radio M Cafe

Korean Name: 라디오엠
37-2 Samcheong-ro 2-gil, Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea

If you find that this place looks familiar, it had also been featured in Secretary Kim (link to KDL for photos)! It is located in Seoul, Jong-no area which means that it is near the palace area, anguk station and that stretch of hipster coffee place. Random but it’s funny how they try to ‘conceal’ the location of these film spots in order not to give them unwanted or perhaps ‘free’ publicity and they often do a name change but this was a rather low effort name change of.. one alphabet? On a side note, the reviews of this cafe seems decent at 4/5 stars!

Episode 6

Skybay Hotel Gyeongpo @ Gangneung

Address: 476 Haean-ro Haean-ro Gangneung-si Gangwon-do KR, South Korea
Link to book/check prices Most basic room is about $100+ and the suites are from $450+ at time of writing this article (Oct 2021)

Hotel official website | Link to hotel’s Instagram page with filming photos: https://www.instagram.com/skybay_hotel/

According to the show, the room is on the 19th floor and given the view and balcony size, it is likely the ambassador suite room. I don’t think the transparent toilet for the room is real. Probably just film setup whin the room. Anyway, if you do get a chance to stay in this place, it has a really cool infinity pool!

Episode 7

Jukrimdong Cathedral @ Chuncheon

Address: 23 Yaksagogae-gil, Yaksa-myeong-dong, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea
춘천 죽림동 주교좌성당 강원도 춘천시 약사명동 약사고개길 23

Chuncheon is situated about an hour away from Seoul by train. Definitely a place worth to check out as a day trip from Seoul.

Episode 8

Dongbaek Lake Park

Address: 12 Dongbaek5ro, Jung-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
동백호수공원 경기도 용인시 기흥구 중동 동백5로 12

Yongin is situated somewhat on the outskirts of seoul. Good news is that it is accessible via the subway but it is probably a pretty long way. Took a look at the photos on Google maps and it seems pretty much like a neighbourhood park.

To be continued if I don’t give up on this drama =p
