[Filming Location] Record of Youth

I was a little hesitant to do up an entry for this because the filming locations for this drama do seem a little boring, at least up till episode 4. The drama was most probably filmed a couple of months back, which meant that the COVID restriction was probably in place. The locations are mainly around Seoul area, probably to minimize traveling. Nevertheless, I decided to do a writeup because watching this drama made me realised how good an actor Park Bo Gum was. I’ve watched most, if not all of his dramas and he is one of the few actors/actresses who I really enjoy watching. (Nobody asked, but the others in my list are: Gong Yoo, Jung Ji Hyun and Seo In Guk).

In case you’re a PBG fan, these are his other dramas that I have written about filming locations: Love in the Moonlight, Encounter.

Anyway, this is a work-in-progress entry which means that I will be updating this same post whenever I am free so if there are any locations I have missed out, feel free to leave a comment below. If you see me ‘drop-off’ on this post after a while it could only mean that I got too busy or perhaps I dropped the drama because it got too boring (though I pray this doesn’t happen) or perhaps the locations are really not worth writing about cause nobody would be keen to ‘visit’. When will we ever get to visit South Korea again?

독서당어린이공원 Deokseodang Children’s Park

Do not search for ‘Deokseodang Children’s Park on google as you will be re-directed to ‘Deokseodang Park’ which is NOT the same place. You’re in better luck if you just copy and paste the address below or search for독서당어린이공원 using Kakao Map. This playground is located in the UN Village at Hannam-dong. It is a luxurious housing district as it has close proximity to the Han River and apparently it is home to many celebrities too! I have no idea what is the significance of ‘UN’ in the name but hopefully some kind soul and tell me.

Address: 1-32 Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)

This futuristic building is uniquely DDP Plaza. It’s like you know it once you see it. However, I am not 100% certain that the scene below is filmed inside DDP. I’ve been inside once and the vibes of the setting below look somewhat familiar but I am not 100% confirm that it is filmed inside. If you know the answer, do leave a comment below!

Ananti Penthouse Seoul

Although the name of this accommodation says ‘Seoul’, this place is actually about 1-2 hours away from Seoul. It is nearer to the Gapyeong/Yangpyeong side. I can’t seem to find the price online but I’m pretty sure it is super expensive.

Makeup Salon @ Avenue Juno

This is an up-class hair and makeup hair salon by ‘Juno Hair’, a popular hair-cutting chain around Korea. Judging from the photos of Instagram and their website, it seems like a popular place for people to do their wedding makeup. Just so you know, this brand was listed as a sponsor at the ending credits so I believe they will be getting quite a bit of publicity from the show.

The fancy-looking yellow steps belong to KB Bank, and this building belongs to Hongik University, School of Architecture. 배곧생명공원 Baegot Life Park

The park is very big and it seems to be a popular spot to look at the sunset. The piano area exists (the black keys on the floor and the treble clef building), however, the piano don’t seem to exist. It is possibly a film prop or perhaps they only bring it out only for special occasions. A grand piano left all alone in the outdoors doesn’t seem like a possibility so don’t keep your hopes too high up if you do intend to visit.

Address: South Korea, Gyeonggi-do, Siheung-si, 배곧 2 로 25

FYI, Siheung is a city 1 hour+ away from Seoul. It is rather near to Incheon.

To be continued.. How do you find the drama so far? Things are getting a little slow-paced but I like it that way =)

(Update at episode 10) The story is getting too flat for me.. =/

  • Thank you for this! Would love to use your photo the Starfield Library for my mission post as I am joining a contest. Please let me know if I’m allowed. Thank you! ♥

    • Hi there, the photo does not belong to me. It is a screenshot from the drama. I don’t think you will be able to use the photo for a contest.

  • Hi, the UN stands for United Nations as many embassies were originally established in the Hannam area and diplomats and their senior staff live there, as well as foreign business executives. It is a gated estate, which means you cannot walk through unless you live there or are visiting a resident. These days it’s mostly celebrities and chaebol families that live in the area.

  • Where is dal.komm located on this drama? I like the drama so far. I am also looking for recipes of food served by Sa Hye-jun’s mom. It always makes me hungry. 😃

    • Hey, do you happen to know which episode is this dal.komm cafe scene (time stamp if possible)? Dal.komm has been featured so often in K-dramas that I often don’t take a second look and wonder where they are located.. Hahaha.

    • Hey, I found the outlet. Is there only one outlet featured in the show so far? The one I found is at Garak-dong. I will update my blog post when I’m doing up next week’s locations!

  • Hola!
What is the place they went to to light candles, end of episode 8? It is one of the most poignant scenes in the series, please do let me know!

    • Hi June, I’m afraid I do not have the answer. I don’t think it matters in the show as he is just acting out his role =)

  • Love this post! I’ve always wondered where the filming locations are. Thanks for collating this list! 🙂 i can’t wait to visit Seoul again
