I know I’m late for this drama and probably the whole world has already blogged about the filming locations and I didn’t really want to write about it until.. I saw the last episode. The scenery in that episode really captivated me and now I’m wrecking my brains on how and when to visit Switzerland, when I haven’t even visited Spain and Quebec yet. I kind of like it that there’s always an impactful drama during the months of Dec – Jan. Seems like Goblin and Memories of Alhambra were also aired during this period.
On a side note, the actress, Son Ye-jin, is starting to grow on me; though I didn’t really take much notice of her back in Personal Taste. I hardly ever bother about actresses and the only one that I really liked was Jun Jihyun (since my sassy girl days). I think that Ye-jin’s acting is really good (complemented by Hyun Bin) and I’m looking forward to seeing more of her dramas!
I hope you will enjoy my writing of the locations which I had it easy as a lot of other people have blogged about it and I’ve credited them at the end of the post.

Episode 1
Schorren, Isetwald
Okay this scene is not exactly in episode 1 but it is in the introduction of every episode. Using goolge maps street view, it should be near building no.3 for this exact shot.
Address: 3 Schorren, Iseltwald, Switzerland
Wolfgang Steakhouse
This is the first scene where Seri entered the restaurant for her date. This is a chain restaurant with branches all over the world (including Singapore) and they serve primarily beef. If I’m not wrong, a meal would set you back at about 50-100,000W at least (excluding drinks), so this is quite an upscale dining experience reserved for special occasions!
Address: 21 Seolleung-ro 152-gil, Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Directions: Apgujeong Station (Line 3), Exit 4
Restaurant Website: https://www.wolfgangssteakhouse.co.kr/
Byeolmaro Observatory별마로천문대
The view is from the observatory at Bongrae mountain at the town of Yeongwol, located at Gangwon-do. I haven’t found actual paragliding services at this town so I believe it was either CGI or it was filmed via special approval. If you’re keen on paragliding in Korea, the more popular towns to do it will be at Yangpyeong or Danyang.
Address: 산59 Yeongheung-ri, Yeongwol-eup, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea
This destination is about 3 hours drive from Seoul and the nearest bus station is Yeongwol Bus Terminal.
Episode 2
North Korea Village @ Taean Film Set
There’s information online which says that the film set may have been taken down or perhaps closed to public. There was a fan who managed to visit the film set back in Feb 2020. If you happen to visit this place, do let me know if the film set still exists but it is quite common for the production to remove the film set after filming is completed as they do not want to disturb the residents living there.
Address: 141-1, Janggok-ri, Gonam-myeon, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do
Taean is located about 3 hours from Seoul. Despite being such a random place, I’ve actually visited this area twice as I stayed twice at the pensions in this place called Anmyeon-do. If you have time to spare, this area is a good getaway to experience the countryside of South Korea. We got to put fireworks by the beach and also had BBQ dinner at our pension. It’s really a lovely destination. Also, Taean holds a Tulip festival every year from April ~ May so do take a look if you’re in Korea during that timing. Trazy runs day trips from Seoul city so you can check out their offerings Taean Shuttle Bus packages here.
Kleine Schneidegg (Paragliding in Switzerland)
This location is near a railway station, supposedly the highest railway station in Europe. Located in the Jungfrau region, it is a popular ski area in winter and during summer, you can do paragliding. There’s also this emerald colour lake which looks so damn good (on google maps). So do give this place a shot if you are there!
Address: 3823 Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland
Episode 4
Panorama bridge Sigriswil
This swing bridge is 340m long and you will be rewarded with an unparalleled view of Lake Thun and the Bernese Alp. It cost about 10,000W for bridge access but I guess the views would be well worthed the price!
Address: Raftstrasse 31-33, 3655 Sigriswil, Switzerland
Note: This bridge is located only 2 hours drive from Zurich, the capital of Switzerland.
Episode 5
The train scene and picnic scene in the night was filmed in Mongolia. The train station was at Ulaanbaatar train station.
Pyongyang Hotel: Busan Commodore Hotel
This hotel has quite a bit of character and they have traditional korean elements infused into the decor and the room setting. This is where they filmed the North Korea hotel scene which includes the lobby scene (where they had a drink), the lift scenes and even some of the room scenes.
The lobby scene where they had a drink, the lift,
Address: 151 Junggu-ro, Daechangdong 1(il)-ga, Jung-gu, Busan, South Korea
Website: https://www.commodore.co.kr/html/main/
Note: It is a 5 Star Hotel: Check Prices (usually from 80,000W per night)
Episode 6
The scene where they had a farewell outdoor bbq at the park is a campsite at Binae Island, Chungju. Not sure if anyone is keen on visiting as it will just look like grass everywhere. Haha.
Episode 7
Isetwald @ Lake Brienz
This wooden jetty is located at Isetwald Ferry Terminal. Isetwald is a village by Lake Brienz and the entire village is conserved under Swiss Heritage Sites. Most tourists will take the cruise between Interlaken and Brienz, making a stopover at this beautiful village for some photos. Tickets for the cruise starts from 43,000W (day ticket).
Address: Iseltwald, Switzerland
Episode 9
Grandhotel Giessbach (School)
This is the location for Jeonghyuk’s school. It is a 4-star hotel located on a hill. Giessbach is also another ferry terminal (Giessbach See) surrounding Lake Brienz.
Prices range from 250,000W Check Prices and it has this Giessbach Waterfall view that you can see in the drama as well! Apparently, you can also walk to this town from Isetwald and it make take 1.5 to 2 hours. I guess it wouldn’t be too tough on a good weather day.
Address: Giessbach, 3855 Brienz, Switzerland
Episode 11
Red Ginseng Spa
This is the same filming location for the spa in ‘Legend by the Blue Seas‘. I thought that this place looked pretty familiar and I guess it’s because I researched about this place intensely before. I guess producers will always keep using the same place as these owners would know what to do and how to restrict public away when they film. Oh wells..
Address: 경기도 파주시 탄현면 갈현리 654-7
5 Jangneung-ro, Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
Directions: From Seoul, Take the train to Geumchon Station and transfer to bus 900.
Paradeplatz, Zurich
Address: Paradeplatz, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland
First-Schreckfeld
Okay, seems like this place is part of a hiking trail which is about 2.4km which starts from Grindelwald, aerial cableway Grindelwald-First summit station. It takes you about 40 mins on a comfortable stroll. It is also a very popular place for skiing in wnter too.
Address: 3818 Grindelwald,Switzerland
Episode 13
Pocheon Hantan River Sky Bridge
Address: Bidulginang-gil, Yeongbuk-myeon, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
Pocheon is located about 1-2 hours from Seoul but I think this place is not very accessible by public transport. The last time I visited the area for Pocheon Art Valley (filming location for moon lovers and legend by the blue seas) and Herb Island, I went on a day tour with trazy which included a visit to the strawberry farm too!
Tangeum Lake Rainbow Bridge
If you do get to visit Chungju, you can visit the Binae Island as well (the one where they had picnic in the grassy campsite area).
Check out this naver blog (korean) for more photos and information on things to do in Chungju.
Address: Tapjeongan-gil, Jungangtap-myeon, Chungju, South Korea
Transport: Bus No. 112-1, 404, 411, 412 from Chungju Bus Terminal Bus Stop, alight at Post Office and walk for approximately 250 meters
The light-up hours are from 7:40pm to 10pm, may be season dependent.
Episode 16
Münsterbrücke, Zürich
Munsterbrucke is a pedestrian and road bridge located in Zurich.
Address: Münsterbrücke 8001, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland
First Flieger, Grindelwald
This is a legit paragliding spot. It is somewhat around the area of Grindelwald-First, within the Jungfrau area which has a lot of gondola and ski lifts. For more tourism information, you can refer to this website. Hope that I get to visit this place one day because I’m totally sold by all the photos that I’ve seen so far.
Address: First Flieger, Bergstation Firstbahn, 3818 Grindelwald, Switzerland
House at Kaiserstuhl-Bürglen
Alright, so this is like a legit house with this superb views of the Lake Lungern. You might not be able to enter the house but I guess you can visit the lake which could be assessed by the nearest station: Kaiserstuhl OW.
Address: Mülifluestrasse 11, 6078 Bürglen Switzerland

Alright, I’m totally sold by the beautiful scenery of Switzerland (despite just returning form a very beautiful New Zealand) and I’m wondering when will I be able to visit the places. I have yet to visit Quebec or Spain and now Switzerland is joining the list of countries that are on my to-visit list.
Hope you enjoyed my post and if you do get to be the lucky one that has the money, time and opportunity to visit these beautiful filming spots, do come back and comment as I would love to hear your adventures as well 😀
Thank you so much for your detailed explanation of all the filming scenes. Really appreciated. They also filmed in Mongolia, for which scene in which episode is that?
Hey, the Mongolia scene was when the train broke down and they were in the green field overnight. I’m not sure which episode it is though. I’ll let you know if I have time to rewatch it.
